Program Overview:

Customers today want all information to be accessible on a website and they want that information fast. This four-semester Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed to provide hands-on, comprehensive training for those who desire to work in the field of web-centric business application development. The primary focus of the program is on user-centered design supported by extensive back-end programming and front-end use of graphic design, multimedia, video, animation, and e-commerce applications to facilitate a fully functional website. Students will apply human interface guidelines, standard-based structures, and design and development principles to create accessible, usable, and captivating web experiences geared to today’s marketplace.

Admission Requirements:

  • GPA: 60% or above

  • IELTS: Overall 6.5 no band below than 6.0

  • PTE: Overall 63 with no band below than 60

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Determine and document requirements for web computing projects based on the effective application of stakeholder needs.

  2. Prepare and present proposals and business plans for web applications that satisfy stakeholder requirements.

  3. Design, model, implement and optimize accessible* web solutions to meet client requirements and constraints, and align with standards and best practices.

  4. Design, model, implement, optimize and maintain databases to support data-driven solutions for web environments.

  5. Implement a development process to support consistency between development platforms and production platforms.

  6. Develop the appropriate information architecture in order to satisfy a broad range of requirements and enhance the user experience.

Career Outlook:

Graduates will find full-time and freelance employment as web developers in corporate, small- and medium-sized businesses, government, entertainment, education, health care and the not-for-profit sectors. Graduates will work as web developers creating websites and web services. They may also establish their own freelance businesses.
