Sustainable Business Management

Program Overview:

Recognition of the need for managers with sustainability expertise continues to grow as local and global organizations are re-positioning sustainability core to business strategy. The Sustainable Business Management graduate certificate program provides students with the diverse skill set needed to lead the transformational change required to address today's complex sustainability challenges in any organization or institution. Whether optimizing a product or service through a triple bottom-line approach, evaluating investment opportunities based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, leading an organization to more sustainable operations or managing change and promoting engagement for sustainability, graduates will be able to apply their skills in a variety of settings. Students are provided with flexible project options, including opportunities to work with local clients and community partners to develop future-fit plans to generate greater value, contribute to the circular economy, and to devise innovative marketing solutions. 

Admission Requirements:

• GPA: 60% or above

• IELTS: Overall 6.5 no band below than 6.0

• PTE: Overall 63 with no band below than 60

Learning Outcomes:

1. Develop recommendations for operations to become more financially, socially and environmentally sustainable based on primary and secondary research

2. Evaluate key data associated with sustainable business practices in order to improve triple bottom line performance

3. Develop and critique methods for communicating sustainability and corporate social responsibility, promoting engagement and leading and managing change within the public and private sectors

4. Develop plans and recommendations for sustainable products and services capitalizing on current business risks and opportunities discovered through environmental scans, stakeholder engagement and analysis of local and global marketplace trends

5. Develop a business case to justify investing in and embedding sustainability in organizations

Career Outlook:

Graduates will be well-equipped to lead and support organizations’ existing sustainability initiatives and programs or to create new ones. Graduates may apply their skills within a variety of roles and functional areas to leverage the business benefits of a more sustainable approach and to drive business success.
