Program Overview
The Master of Cyber Security at the University of Newcastle is a two-year postgraduate degree designed for international students to build advanced skills in protecting digital systems, networks, data and infrastructure from cyber threats. The program covers fundamental and advanced topics in cyber security, such as secure system design, cryptography, risk management, compliance, network and system defence, and human factors in security. It is suitable for students from a range of backgrounds — including those without a prior IT foundation — and focuses on practical, industry-aligned skills and theoretical understanding.

- Cyber Security Engineer:
Focuses on advanced technical defence mechanisms, systems hardening, secure software and network architecture, and technical mitigation strategies - Cyber Security Analyst:
Emphasises the human, organisational and analytical aspects of cyber threats, including compliance, security governance, risk analysis and cyber crime studies.
