Program Overview:

In Conestoga's Interactive Media Management - Interaction Design (IMMID) program, you'll pull back the curtain on digital interactions and create solutions to solve a variety of interactive challenges. Conestoga's one-year IMMID graduate certificate program provides you with the opportunity to build a toolkit of practical user experience design skills and knowledge applicable to a wide range of business challenges - from supporting brand loyalty to increasing accessibility to boosting profits. Integrating the look, feel, and human experience of digital and physical products, you will learn how to create, analyze, evaluate, and simplify digital interactions for technologies such as websites, apps, wearables, smart products and AR/VR applications. Working individually and in teams in project-based experiential learning environments, you will combine the practices of UX including visual design, research, writing, ethics, business, and IT elements to present evidence-based and human-centered design solutions. To set you up for success, faculty with direct industry experience offer guidance as you build a portfolio of original work, and a field placement opportunity gives you the chance to directly apply your skills in the workplace, and be a leader in building better digital experiences.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Facilitate effective completion of both individual and collaborative interactive media projects.

  2. Use and evaluate best practices and tools to design and develop dynamic, rich-media content.

  3. Conduct and evaluate a thorough assessment of the requirements of a complex interactive media project

  4. Coordinate the development, budgeting, planning and professional presentation of a complex interactive media project.

  5. Design and coordinate a complex media project (interface, navigation, graphics, text treatment) using best practice design and development principles and applying conceptual and theoretical frameworks.

  6. Manage the building of effective and dynamic complex Web sites and/or mobile applications.

  7. Propose solutions to ethical and professional issues arising in an online environment.

Career Outlook:

Graduates may find employment in various corporations such as web solution firms, software companies, start-ups, venture studios, e-commerce, media design companies, banks, insurance, or advertising companies, in positions such as interaction designer, UX/UI designer, frontend developer, digital experience designer, product designer, specialist or web marketing consultant.
