Global Business Management

Program Overview:

The Global Business Management program builds on the foundations of the International Business Management program with an additional year of intensive instruction in advanced business topics. There is an emphasis on skills such as leadership, critical analysis and strong business communication, high performance teamwork and effective presentations-- all required for students to become successful managers. Students get to put these skills into practice with a capstone Applied Project where they work with industry and community partners to gain real-world professional experience.

The 2-year Global Business Management graduate certificate provides students with in-depth business expertise, concrete managerial skills and an appreciation of global cultures and traditions. The program equips graduates for career success in domestic and international settings. The program includes a capstone work-integrated project that provides students with first-hand exposure to - and experience in - the Canadian work environment.

Admission Requirements:

• GPA: 2.6 or above

• IELTS: Overall 6.5 with no band below than 6.0

• PTE: No band below than 58

Learning Outcomes:

• Collect process and interpret data and apply the results to a wide range of global business systems.

• Develop a comprehensive global business plan taking into account a range of international realities (e.g. economic, legal, sociocultural, political realities, etc).

• Select, develop and implement strategies to conduct business with diverse populations using culturally appropriate methods in compliance with relevant national and international law, legislation, policies, and regulations.

• Analyze the implications associated with the importing and exporting functions of a business to facilitate international trade.

• Inform operational decision-making of international business using financial analysis.

• Lead and collaborate with others to maintain all levels of working relationships.

• Apply quality control and assurance programs to international business.

Career Outlook:

Graduates of the Global Business Management program will bring with them an in-depth understanding of business concepts, along with well-developed soft skills that are required for contributing to organizations at an advanced level. Well-honed critical thinking skills, exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship, and actual professional experience will prepare graduates for management roles in a broad range of roles in industry, government and not-for-profit enterprises in the fields of manufacturing, service delivery, logistics, marketing and sales.
