The Bachelor of Community Services at Box Hill Institute prepares international students with the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and professional experience needed to support individuals and communities across a range of social service settings. The 3-year degree blends foundational understanding of welfare frameworks, community development principles, cultural safety (with a strong Indigenous perspective), communication and decision-making strategies with hands-on learning through practical placements. Students explore legislation and regulation relevant to the community services sector, develop reflective practice and teamwork skills, and are supported by experienced teaching staff. Throughout the course, learners build their capacity to work compassionately and effectively with diverse populations, and are positioned for employment in community service agencies, residential care, youth programs, crisis intervention settings and related sectors.
