Program Overview

The Bachelor of Agriculture and Technology (Viticulture and Winemaking) at Melbourne Polytechnic is a 3-year undergraduate degree that immerses international students in both scientific and commercial aspects of grape growing and wine production. The course covers biological sciences, chemistry, vineyard management, wine chemistry, sensory evaluation, rural business management and environmental sustainability, with extensive hands-on learning at operational vineyards and wineries. Students learn every stage of the viticulture and winemaking process — from vine physiology and grape production through fermentation, evaluation and marketing — giving graduates the practical, technical and industry insights needed to pursue careers across Australia’s global wine sector and beyond.
