Program Overview

The Bachelor of Agriculture and Technology (Horticulture) at Melbourne Polytechnic is a 3-year undergraduate degree designed to equip international students with both the scientific foundations and practical skills required to pursue professional careers in the horticulture industry. The degree covers plant biology, propagation, soil and growing media, horticulture in a changing climate, conservation horticulture, digital technologies applied to plant systems, pest and pathogen management, plant physiology and rural business principles. Students learn through a blend of hands-on practical workshops, industry placements and theoretical study, giving them the ability to work effectively in sectors ranging from commercial horticulture operations and consulting to environmental conservation and education.
