The Master of Social Work (Qualifying) at Ikon Institute of Australia is a two-year postgraduate degree designed for international students who want to become professional social workers with advanced knowledge in social justice, inclusion, ethical practice and community change. The course combines theoretical study with immersive learning, covering social work theory, research, advocacy, individual and group practice, systems-level interventions and community services.
A key feature of this qualification is the two 500-hour supervised field placements (across different practice settings), giving you real-world experience applying social work values and skills under professional supervision — preparing you for modern social work roles.
This qualification is accredited with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (conditionally provisionally) and meets the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards required for entry into the profession. Graduates are eligible for AASW membership following completion.
