The Bachelor of Social Work at Southern Cross University is a four-year accredited undergraduate degree that prepares international students to practise as professional social workers. Grounded in principles of social justice, human rights, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practice, the program combines foundational knowledge in sociology, human development, research, Indigenous world-views and social policy with practical skills in counselling, advocacy, case management and community engagement. A major feature of the degree is extensive work integrated learning placements (including up to 1,000 hours of supervised field experience), giving students real-world experience across diverse settings such as health, welfare, child protection, youth services, disability and community development. Graduates are eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and are equipped to work in government, non-profit and community sectors nationally and internationally.
