Program Overview

The Bachelor of Accounting and Data Assurance at IMC is a three-year undergraduate degree for international students that integrates accounting principles with data assurance, data analytics and cybersecurity skills — reflecting the growing importance of data integrity and analysis in finance and business environments.

Students complete 144 credit points (24 units) and choose one of two specialisations: Auditing and Analytics or Cybersecurity. Both specialisations begin with shared core units covering accounting, finance, economics, ethics, data fundamentals and technology strategies. The Auditing and Analytics stream focuses on financial data quality, interpretation and analytics tools, while the Cybersecurity stream develops programming and information security skills with advanced topics such as AI and machine learning applied to data security contexts.

Specialisation Options

Students must choose one specialisation and complete the associated unit sequence:

• Auditing and Analytics – Focuses on financial auditing, data quality, analytics, visualisation and assurance while satisfying sequences that meet CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants ANZ academic requirements for accounting pathways.
• Cybersecurity – Emphasises information security, programming, cybersecurity analytics, cryptography and blockchain within accounting and data environments, plus an advanced cybersecurity project and a capstone professional practice unit. For more details:
